It’s important you take care of your trailer, including performing regular maintenance on it, to stay compliant with your Trailer Use Agreement. Here are a few things you need to know about maintaining your leased CloudTrucks trailer.
If you need maintenance on your trailer (tires, brakes, mudflaps, airbags, damage, etc.)...
The first step is to reach out to the Trailers team so we can help you find a convenient location to get the necessary repairs. It is important to inform the trailers team immediately as there are specific steps that need to be followed to ensure a smooth and efficient repair and avoid unnecessary cost. If you go and get repairs on your own, the repairs may not be up to standard and you may not get reimbursed for those repairs.
Inspect the trailer
Upon arriving at the trailer you should do 3 things:
- Inspect it yourself. Walk around the trailer and note down any damage or issues you can see with the trailer (scratches to the panels, holes in the panels, flat tires, missing mudflaps, etc.)
- Take photos of the trailer (all sides, inside, doors, all tires, mudflaps) to trailers@cloudtrucks.com. Do not send the photos via SMS because often the photo quality gets worse.
- Sign the Trailer Condition Form via DocuSign and communicate anything you found when inspecting your trailer and taking photos (steps 1 and 2 in this list).
Please note: any damage to the trailer not reported before or during the initial inspection will be your responsibility.
Get an initial inspection
If the trailer you are picking up has not had a DOT inspection in the past 3 months, please bring it to a Loves location to get one. We want to ensure that any repairs are completed to minimize breakdowns on the road. If there is not a Loves near you, please call the Trailers team so we can find a convenient location to complete the DOT inspection.
Get regular inspections
You are required to have your trailer inspected once every 3 months. CloudTrucks will cover the cost of the DOT inspections at partnering locations and any normal wear and tear that is identified will be covered.
When your trailer inspection is expired or expiring soon, your Digital Permit Book will flag it with a red alert badge on your Equipment folder. There, you’ll be able to upload a new inspection verification document directly in-app.
Pre and post-trip inspections
You are required to do a pre-trip and post-trip inspection on your truck and trailer. These inspections help catch any damage or maintenance needed early so it can be addressed in a timely fashion and you aren't on the road with unsafe equipment.
Maintenance coverage
CloudTrucks covers the cost to replace tires and brakes on its trailers when services are required for wear and tear related issues during normal use.
CloudTrucks will not cover services caused by damage or accident to the trailer. In the event your trailer is damaged at a shipper / receiver, please reach out to CloudTrucks' Trailer Operations Team immediately before leaving the premises
