Flatbed driving is a specialized type of freight that requires a higher level of safety compliance. Carriers typically require intensive training to allow drivers to haul this type of freight. To satisfy our quality and safety requirements, we verify that you have gone through the training previously and have adequate experience through past verifications.
CloudTrucks proudly offers standard flatbed loads (at this time we do not permit coils, stepdeck, oversize, or specialized load that requires any type of permit, etc.)
Basic Flatbed Requirements
To run flatbed with CloudTrucks, a driver must meet the following qualifications in addition to our standard experience requirements:
- Either 6 months verified flatbed experience in the past year
- Or 18 months verified flatbed experience in the past 3 years
If you are approved to run flatbed, you will need to provide your own flatbed equipment.
If you want help saving the money for equipment, consider signing up for the CT Maintenance Savings Fund!
Help Us Approve You!
Your experience can come in the form of verification from the employer, DAC Employment file, or via load documentation that specifically states flatbed. If the flatbed experience evidence isn't easily obtained through your existing employment verification or DAC Employment records, the following information can help us get you approved.
- On average how many flatbed loads per month did you haul in the last year?
- Do you have a Flatbed Training Certificate?
- Are you willing to find and complete a cargo securement recertification course from a major carrier?
- Please send rate Confirmations or BOLs showing your (driver) name, the company, dates, and thetrailer type. Please provide these types of documents over the course of the last year.
- Settlements showing the driver, the company, dates, and the load being flatbed. As with Rate Cons, we will need multiple to prove adequate experience.
Flatbed Approval Process
- Contact the Safety Team by email or phone call or text if you are an existing CloudTrucks driver that would like to run flatbed. Please allow for up to 48 hour response time.
- Flatbed Experience Verification: Safety will review your existing driving history that was provided and verified during your application process. If there isn't enough flatbed-specific documentation provided through your original application, we will reach out to your employers. We will also let you know, so that you can ask them to respond to us, or for you to provide us directly with documentation needed.
- Sentix Training: Once we have qualified you, a member of the safety team will call you with further guidance, including completing a Sentix flatbed online training course.
- Loadboard Access: Once Sentix training completed, the safety team will request our software team to add flatbed access to your CloudTrucks driving profile. You are ready to book!
