QUESTIONS
Can I go through Reliance but opt-out of CT deducting as a repayment?
When registering for insurance, how do I list CloudTrucks as the certificate holder?
If I have two drivers sharing one truck, how will repayment billing work through CT?
Auto Liability & Cargo Insurance
We know insurance is a big cost for owner-operators, which is why as a CloudTrucks Virtual Carrier driver you're automatically enrolled in our Auto Liability & Cargo Insurance as part of your lease-on & insurance fee.
Our Virtual Carrier lease on & insurance fee is 18% per load on the line haul revenue: 13% for lease-on & 5% for insurance. Click here to see what's covered under that policy.
Non-Trucking Liability & Occupational Accident Insurance
The other required insurances for all drivers is Non-Trucking Liability & Occupational Accident Insurance (abbreviated to NTL and OA). CloudTrucks has a program for Non-Trucking Liability and Occupational Accident Insurance through our partnership with Reliance. This offers an affordable rate to our drivers and the cost to you for both NTL and OA coverage is a single weekly deduction of $38.
For Non-Trucking Liability and Occupational Accident, along with the Auto Liability & Cargo, you don’t need to do anything! Our Onboarding Team enrolls you in the insurance.
Physical Damage Insurance
You are still responsible for Physical Damage (PD) insurance (for your truck). We partner with Reliance Insurance to provide you insurance at a great rate.
How to apply
If you're interested in getting your PD insurance through Reliance (95% of our drivers do!) follow the steps below.
- CLICK HERE and fill out the referral form to apply
- Reliance will email you a link to their online portal - keep an eye out for that email
- Click the link and complete your enrollment for the required insurances
- Make a payment for the month (don't worry, it'll be pro-rated)
- Reliance will email you and CloudTrucks certificates for your new insurances
A representative will reach out to you with your personalized quote and more information. Enrollment and billing of these insurance policies will be handled directly with Reliance or Trucker Advantage and COIs will be forwarded directly to CloudTrucks.
QUESTIONS
Choosing a Different Insurance Provider than Reliance?
All CloudTrucks virtual carrier drivers are required to be covered through our group Auto Liability & Cargo policy with Reliance, with no exceptions.
However, if you would prefer to obtain your Physical Damage, Non-Trucking Liability and/or Occupational Accident Insurance through a provider other than Reliance, you may do so.
In that case, you will be responsible for keeping your billing and policies active and current, along with ensuring that we always have the most up-to-date Certificates of Insurance (COI) for these policies on your account. Failure to keep policy active will result in a temporary suspension of your ability to book loads until we receive proof of active coverage. Please email your new COIs to safety@cloudtrucks.com.
Go to this article on insurance coverage requirements if you are shopping for policies through an outside insurance agency.
Can I Still Get My Insurance Through Reliance, But Opt Out of Having It Deducted Through CloudTrucks?
No, unfortunately at this time it isn't possible to have Reliance as your provider but not have the billing for NTL/OA deducted through CloudTrucks. You may, however see the section above, and chose a different insurance provider than Reliance.
I currently carry coverage through a provider other-than Reliance, but would like to switch to Reliance and have the deductions through CloudTrucks. How do I switch?
You are more than welcome to make the switch! Please contact the Safety team or Customer Success team for assistance.
I have two drivers sharing one truck, how will repayment billing work through CT?
In that case, there would be one NTL and 2 OCAC policies. Instead of a weekly repayment of $38, it would be a weekly total repayment of $68.50 to cover the additional driver.
